2017/2018 Yth 1 Modern with Louisa Barta

AGES: 4-6 Modern dance is the challenge of ballet with the freedom and fun of hip-hop or jazz. Run, jump, roll on the floor, plie, spin, leap in the air, we get to do all that and more in this focused but fun class! This class is for the creative dancer. In this class, students will be taught the basics of modern technique. Completion of choreography, "safe risk-taking", experimentation, freedom of movement, and artistry will be our goals for the year. And who knows? There might be time at the end of class for a challenging dance game or creating our own dances and showing them off! Bare feet are fine. This class and culminates with a performance in our June 16 showcase, which all class participants must commit to.

2018 Beginner Youth 2/Pre-teen Hip-Hop with Nadine Medina

AGES: 8-12 This dance style can include the sub-genres of funk, street jazz, popping, krump, lyrical hip-hop, and breakdancing. TDF classes infuse choreographed routines with several of these known forms of hip hop, and may also include lyrical hip-hop. Lyrical hip-hop is fluid and expressive, and is often taught to slower songs. Shoes worn in from off the street will NOT BE PERMITTED. Like any other dance class, hip hop shoes are meant for class only and it is expected that you will have a dedicated pair that you wear only IN-STUDIO. We recommend skate-style shoes like Supra, DC's, Etnies, or even Nike/Adidas so long as they do not have deep tread and large soles. These may be purchased online or at Journeys at Crossgates Mall. Class begins January 18 and culminates in an end-of-year performance in the annual showcase on June 16, which all class participants must commit to.
