Workshop: Textures & Performance

This workshop is PERFECT for any dancer interested in taking their performing to the next level as well as any mover wanting to enhance their repertoire! Textures help dancers to embody the music and more strongly, and accurately, express the intent behind each move. It's like adding punctuation and inflection to how you speak, but we put this idea to movement! In this workshop we'll work on textures like ramping, milking, sticking, rebounding and more as well as ranges of dynamics including size, speed, resistance, and fluidity and skills like dime stops and strobing. The afternoon portion of the workshop will be focused on developing characters to help us perform with clear intentions.

Bare feet or socks are recommended, as well as clothing that allows a full range of movement. TDF dancers who have clean dance sneakers are welcome to wear those. If you have a journal or notebook, please bring it with you. We have extras if you need one.

NOTE: Our studio location is behind the address. While our address is 291 River Street, you'll want to map yourselves to 255 Front street (Riverfront Park). Parking is free on nights and weekends in the parking lot and on the street. Our doorway is yellow, and has a mural so you can't miss it!
