Service Description

Discover the rhythm and precision of tap dance while building a strong technical foundation. Designed for beginners and dancers looking to refresh the basics, Intro to Tap introduces the essential steps, rhythms, and techniques that form the foundation of tap dance. Through progressive exercises and combinations, you'll develop coordination, timing, balance, and musicality while learning to create clear, confident sounds with your feet. Whether you're lacing up tap shoes for the first time or returning to the style after time away, this class will help you build the skills and confidence to keep progressing. ATTIRE: Wear comfortable dancewear or athletic clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Leggings, joggers, shorts, fitted tops, or tees are all great options. FOOTWEAR: Split-sole or full-sole tap shoes are recommended for this class. We do not recommend character shoes or buckle tap shoes. Visit our Recommendations page for suggested shoe styles and retailers. CLASS SCHEDULE: This 10-week session runs from Sept 27 - Dec 4. The price shown is for the entire session. OPTIONAL PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY: This fall, dancers enrolled in select classes will have the opportunity to perform in TDF Stage Sessions on December 4. Designed as a low-pressure performance experience, Stage Sessions gives dancers the chance to perform their class choreography on a real stage for an audience of fellow TDF dancers. There are no auditions, no additional rehearsals, and no tickets to sell. Your instructor will prepare your class piece during your regular class time. Participation is completely optional, making this a great opportunity for dancers who want to experience the excitement of performing while building confidence in a supportive community.
