Summer 2026 - Storytelling for Dance
Ages 17+ | All Levels invited
Service Description
This class focuses on using movement as a clear, intentional form of communication. Over six weeks, dancers will work through tools for building character, shaping emotional clarity, and making choices in movement that support a narrative. We’ll explore how performance shifts when you change breath, timing, texture, and physical intention—using contemporary-based principles like contraction and release, dynamic variation, cause and reaction, and facial expression as functional tools. Across the session, dancers will work through guided improvisation, structured movement prompts, and both individual and group exercises. The class will also include phrase-building tasks where dancers develop short movement studies rooted in specific story prompts, learning how to translate ideas, relationships, or emotional shifts into physical choices. The focus is on clarity: what the body is saying, how it’s saying it, and how that meaning changes based on detail and intention. LEVEL: This is an All Level class, suitable for all movers with curiosity and an open mind ATTIRE: Athletic attire and socks or bare feet CLASS SCHEDULE: This 6-week session begins the week of July 12 and runs through August 21. The price shown reflects the price of the ENTIRE session. See our FAQ's below for info regarding Cancellations, Payment Plan Options, and Trial Classes.
